Welcome Home for Heroes
package expanded to the other 24 De Vere Venues
The Welcome Home for Heroes package which was launched at Shaw Ridge and
offers our military forces an exclusive offer to stay with us for just £1
per room per night, has been expanded to the other 24 De Vere Venues.
The offer is open to all military personnel returning
from an operational tour of duty and it is also available
to unit rear party personnel, who undertake the critical
role of supporting families whilst their loved ones are
away, bereaved families, casualty notifying officers
and visiting officers, who support those families that
have lost loved ones while serving their country.

De Vere and the Variety Club
of Great Britain
As you may be aware for the past year Shaw Ridge, along with the rest of
the AHG/MWB Group have been raising funds for the Variety Club of Great
Britain.
With the support of our Residents
and Guests to date Shaw Ridge has raised an amazing £11,828.77
and the Group as a whole to date has raised a tremendous £227,058.49!
This wouldn't have been possible without the participation
and generosity of our Guests, so a huge Thank You to
you all!
Fundraising is till happening
throughout the Group, our next fundraising effort at
Shaw Ridge will be during the Abba Tribute Night when
we will invite our Guests to play Head or Tails with
a chance to win 2 tickets to see the fabulous Mamma
Mia at the Prince of Wales Theatre.
So if you've already booked your
tickets don't forget to bring some cash to play Heads
or Tails (just £1 per person), and if you haven't booked,

 Involve Swindon
Involve Swindon was launched in 2004 under the name “Swindon Employees in the Community Network” (SEitCN). Since then, they have worked with over 80 organisations from the corporate, statutory and charitable sectors and over 2000 employees have given their time and skills to the local community through them.
Each year, in May and November,
Involve Swindon bring together up to 75 representatives
of local employers and voluntary groups for a networking
event at the De Vere Venue Shaw Ridge to exchange experiences
of employer supported volunteering.
At De Vere Venue Shaw Ridge
we encourage team Members to take up to 5 days paid
leave to participate in volunteer work for a registered
charity.

Variety
Club Update
Great News! Collectively De Vere Venues
have now raised in excess of £262,606.24 for the Variety Club of Great
Britain.
Here's a taster of what some of the other Venues have been
doing to raise much needed funds for the Variety Club.
Denham Grove, Uxbridge:
On 30th May, the GM of Denham Grove Michael Micallef and colleagues
very bravely did a tandem sky dive at the Hinton Skydiving
Centre in Oxfordshire.
New Place, Southampton:
On Monday 7th June a team from New Place led by Ed Francis
set
themselves a challenge to swim the channel over 24
hours.
St David’s Park, nr Chester: The team from St David’s
set off on 10th June to climb Mount Snowdon.
Hartsfield Manor, Betchworth:
Ellis Noble the GM at Hartsfield had the pleasure of
presenting our 4th coach to CCHF All About Kids based
in Hassocks, West Sussex.

The
'I Belong to Swindon' Conference a huge success at
De Vere Shaw Ridge
31st March saw the launch of the ‘I Belong to Swindon’ social credit card
at the De Vere Hotel.
The ‘I Belong to Swindon’ enterprise
is a group of seven local schools working together
towards one corporate goal, creating a social capital
credit card for the children of Swindon.
Social credit points will be
earned for acts of good citizenship, charity, social
and cultural investment in their local area. The points
earned will be able to be spent at local retails outlets
who have entered the ‘I Belong to Swindon’ register.

School
Children play hardball with one of Swindon's biggest
Hotels
Schoolchildren played hardball with one of Swindon’s biggest hotels as part
of a community scheme. Pupils aged six to 10 from Lydiard Tregoze Primary
School negotiated with manager of the De Vere Hotel in Shaw Ridge Andrew
Spink, to book the venue for a conference on March 31. The conference marks
the launch of a social capital credit card, which will reward primary school
pupils for good deeds.
